I would highly encourage you to continue writing as there is a lot of wisdom that youngsters such as myself can gain from. Specifically, the one on negotiations was an interesting one. I have taken the liberty to share with you a few of my thoughts.

It was interesting to see how East India Company came into being. I didn't know that they initially entered India solely with the purpose of doing trade. But it is fascinating to see how they grew in influence. I don't think that the fact that an Indian group now owns that company means much. It is largely a symbolic thing. I would be more proud of Tata steel acquiring Corus Steel and Tata Motors acquiring Jaguar and Land Rover as far bigger events to be proud of as these are companies with considerable influence globally. But anyways, that is just my viewpoint.

"Can India make it" was also a wonderful read. It is wonderful how things have changed over the years. From pledging our gold reserves for 'aid' to calling British aid peanuts! But much remains to be done especially on the infrastructure front. My generation will take up this challenge. In fact, I remember the farewell speech given to us by the former Ideal Indian School Principal, Mr Ainsley L Edgar, during my 12th standard farewell. I was probably among the few who listened to his speech that day, hahaha. He said, and it is the only thing I remember from that speech, that my generation will be the lucky generation. We will see India take her rightful place among the powerful nations of the world. We are already seeing this after India got inducted into the G20. But of course, there's more that can be done.

In relation to the comparison drawn between India and China, I remember what Mr. Gurcharan Das, former CEO of Procter & Gamble India, mentioned in a speech in Kochi which I attended during my engineering days. He said one of things that might work in favor for us is our democratic system. He said there is a fear that China might at some point might breakaway from the Communist system and shift to the democratic system. We can already see signs of this. There are increasing number of protests in China and I even saw a documentary where entire slums were wiped off over night and reallocated in the outskirts during the preparation for the Beijing Olympics. I think it is only a matter of time before this resentment builds up and evolves into a political movement. History will tell us that these transitions are never smooth.

Last but not the least, I must comment about your article on Thavo Uncle's funeral. While reading it, I felt I was watching the whole process through your eyes. In my limited interactions with him, he came across as one who always had a zest for life. May his soul rest in peace.

Please continue writing and I will try to follow as much as I can. Among Daddy's friends, you were always one of those who imparted your views, advices and principles that youngsters need and I will always cherish that.

Take care,
RobinJAISON CHACKOhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03943895520875262721noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4468380702033224119.post-24313717124095834742012-07-06T21:12:27.361+05:302012-07-06T21:12:27.361+05:30E mail received
